By hiking up rents, they have forced out many independent retailers, and significantly damaged Greenwich's value as a destination for both Londoners and tourists. Now they are left with empty shops. Exactly what purpose was served by, as is well-known, imposing a huge rent increase on the Warwick Leadly shop, only to have them move to a small, less visible unit (and I presume, suffer a downturn in footfall) only for the old shop to stand empty?
