Petition: Postpone Decision on Greenwich Market

May 14, 2009 by

Reason
In light of Greenwich Hospital’s recent ‘consultation’ which took place after they had submitted plans for the redevelopment to Greenwich Council I would like the council to turn down any applications that have not undergone a real, open and transparent consultation process.

Petition

"We the undersigned urge the council to postpone any decisions regarding planning permission for the redevelopment of Greenwich Market site until Greenwich Hospital undertake a genuine and meaningful consultation with the public."

Jack Hindley,
I use the market sparingly and always find it great to look round. Commerce comes in all shapes and sizes but everything is being pushed into megacentres. Stop the rot.

Sarah Mee,
I can't imagine Greenwich without the Market and believe that if removed would have a dramatic affect on the number of visitors and would yet again make our country a place of bland high streets.

craig gardiner,

Matt Humphrey,
The food stalls at Greenwich Market are the heart and soul of the entire village. I enjoyed lunch there today and the traders were upset that they would not be able to lighten people's day with their diverse range of food. Reducing the amount of food stalls at the market should not even be discussed as it brings money to local businesses and attracts much in the way of tourism. Diversity is Greenwich's greatest asset, don't take it away so readily before acknowledging the voice of residents.

A Hearnden,

chris matthews,
Please do listen to local residents wishes

Michael Naylor,
I am a local resident of Greenwich, I was not aware of these proposals to turn Greenwich Market into a eyesore resembling an airport terminal or shopping centre.

I am against these proposals vehemently.
