Friends of St Alfege: talk by historian Neil Rhind
- Address: St Alfege Church, Greenwich
- Wednesday 6th October 2010 7:30pm to 9:30pm
Description
Neil Rhind, a local historian, will talk about the connection that St Alfege Church has with medical care in the area, eg with the Reverend John Cale Miller (1814-1880) and the Royal West Kent Dispensary which became the Miller hospital.
The Reverend Miller, who was a vicar at St Alfege from 1866-1880, conceived of the idea of Hospital Sunday when simultaneous collections in every place of worship, on a given Sunday, would be set aside for local hospitals.
All welcome. Admission: free.
