The Secret Policeman’s Ball comedy event will be cinecast live from the Royal Albert Hall to the Greenwich Picturehouse cinema on Satuday night. The event, in aid of Amnesty International, will feature performances from Frank Skinner, Alan Carr, Graham Norton, Sean Lock, Katy Brand, Tim Minchin, Kristen Schaal, Sarah Millican, Kayvan Novak, Russell Peters, Fearne Cotton, Meera Syal, Sean Williamson, Matt Berry, Katherine Parkinson, Mitchell and Webb, Russell Howard, Jason Manford, Shappi Khorsandi, Sharon Horgan, Nick Mohammed, Dan Clark and David Armand.

In an effort to make opera more accessible, tonight’s performance of Don Giovanni – the first of the new Royal Opera season – has been made available to readers of the Sun newspaper. For those not wishing to watch the opera with an auditorium full of Sun readers, there is instead the chance to watch it being broadcast live at the Greenwich PictureHouse (or any other Picture House cinema).

This Sunday you can enjoy a peformance of the Royal Ballet’s Romeo and Juliet at the Greenwich Picture House in Greenwich High Road. The interpretation uses the choreography of the legendary Kenneth MacMillan, and was filmed by the BBC last November at the Royal Opera House. The recording will be broadcast on Sunday the 17th August throughout the Picture House chain at 15:30 and is repeated on Tuesday 19th August at 18:00.
