"I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn't photograph them." - Diane Arbus
Andrea Berente, Eeva Margetta Boyce, John Barter, Colin Mackenzie, Terry Warne, Phil Thompson, Andrew Durkin, John Nottage, Dianne Pearson, Catherine Riney, Kevin Wood, Miranda Beard, Melanie Godson, Malcolm Fletcher and Angela Fletcher are a group of local amateur photographers who first met whilst attending adult education classes studying digital photography at the London South East College (LSEC) Greenwich campus. They share a passion for photography and formed a student group as a channel for sharing their interests and developing their art form. This is their first collaborative gallery exhibition following the theme “On The Fringe”, inspired by the work and images of Mary Ellen Mark, Daido Moriyama, Bruce Davidson, Alec Soth and Diane Arbus.
The remit for this project was "to focus on a new opportunity, change, outside looking in, inside looking out, boundaries or all or none of the above." What will the photographers choose? The choice was theirs to make!
Each photographer will be displaying a selection of their images during the exhibition, each with their unique interpretation of the theme “On The Fringe”. Photo Students Greenwich hope that visitors to the exhibition will be encouraged to develop their own photography skills and will view the community we live in from a different perspective.
