Greenwich Lights Up
Greenwich Lights Up, December 5th from 3pm, Greenwich Market
See the Christmas lights in Greenwich get switched on by the cast of Greenwich Theatre’s “Jack In The Beanstalk” on Friday December 5th. The fun starts at Greenwich Market at 3pm, and then at 4pm a magical lantern procession will make its way from the Old Royal Naval College along to the market, via the Cutty Sark Gardens Christmas Tree of Light.
Mayor of Greenwich Cllr Steve Offord, will then join the panto cast for the official switch on at 4.30pm.
In anticipation of the event, the Mayor said, “Greenwich Lights Up is always amongst the borough’s most popular festive events and I’m sure it will prove to be a great occasion as always. On a personal note, it will be a great honour for me to join the cast of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to help switch on the Greenwich Market Christmas Lights and I would like to encourage everyone to make the effort to come down and enjoy the start of the wonderful festive season in Greenwich.”
Santa will be in his grotto in Greenwich market from noon to 7pm, with a gift for every child.

Week In Review 21/11/08
This week was mostly decimated for me by bug and other ailments which should serve as a reminder for me to stay clear of small children.
On Tuesday, Andrew Gilligan wrote about the fatal flaws in the KPMG review which, according to a leaked email, seems to have convinced Boris Johnson that Greenwich Park is the right venue for the equestrian events. I think a site truly comes of age when it has a leaked email to publish!
On Wednesday, London 2012 organisers confirmed that Greenwich Park would indeed be staying as part of their plans. LOCOG have arranged a presentation for today (Friday) and tomorrow in the Pavillion Teahouse in the Park about what their plans might entail.
Apart from that, it was a fairly quiet, for me at least (although to be fair I was sleeping for most of it), but there’s one last thing: a date for your diary. Get your camera ready for June 2010 because a new luxury cruise liner, the Seabourn Sojourn, is having her naming ceremony in Greenwich. The yacht style, 450-passenger cruiser will then set sail on a 14 day maiden voyage. At least that’s the Daily Photo section sorted for that week!
Seabourn Sojourn To Be “Christened” In Greenwich
It’s been announced that one of Seabourn’s new cruise liners, the Seabourn Sojourn, will have her naming ceremony in Greenwich in June 2010. Following the christening, the liner will embark on its 14-day maiden voyage.
The Seabourn Sojourn will be the second in a trio of new yacht-style, 450-passenger liners, with the first one, the Seabourn Odyssey (seen below) being launched in Venice in 2009.
