Thanks to Warren King for this photo of the Juan Sebastián de Elcano, currently moored at Greenwich.
Warren writes, “The Tall Ship moored in Greenwich until tomorrow is the ‘Juan Sebastián de Elcano’, named after the Spanish explorer, It’s a training ship for the Royal Spanish Navy and is the third-largest Tall Ship in the world.”

Her guide was professional storyteller, and man behind the East Greenwich History Map, Rich Sylvester. When I had an office in the annexe of John Humphries House in Stockwell Street, I never considered it to be a pleasant building, but the 60s office block which housed a local authority computer centre actually manages to look quite attractive in this lovely photo taken by Robert Carr.
An application for the demolition of the building has been submitted as part of the University of Greenwich’s redevelopment plans for the site. Find out more about their plans and the dates of their public exhibition on their dedicated webpage.
Greenwich.co.uk food columnist, Guy Awford, has been busy working on a brand new restaurant above the Guildford Arms and has shared this photo to show how it’s looking. It’s currently undergoing a soft launch and will officially open March 1st.
Google’s car was out and about in Greenwich on Saturday collecting new images for its Google Maps Street View feature – thanks to Alex Brooks for sharing this picture he took.
Thanks to George Austin for emailing this photo of the 108 to Lewisham with the Canary Wharf skyline in the background. The 108 route started in 1914 and is described on Wikipedia as being “agonisingly slow”.
