Thanks to Daren, now tweeting lots of great local content as @MisterGreenwich, for this photo of French warship FS Premiere-Maitre L’Her passing Greenwich this morning on her way up to a berthing next to HMS Belfast.

Look out for another, currently unknown, vessel tomorrow lunch time, which will be heading back out again, along with FS Premiere-Maitre L’Her, on Tuesday afternoon.

Rider from Vespa Club Ferrara

These riders from Vespa Club Ferrara, Italy, were in Greenwich today for the huge event for Vespa enthusiasts at the O2 – Vespa World Days. They posed for photos for me as they took a look around Greenwich in search on their classic scooters, many with Italian flags flying from the rear.

Daily Photo: 11/06/2012 – Dead Parrot sculpture

June 11, 2012 By Rob Powell

There was some concern that the dead parrot sculpture in the grounds of Devonport House might have become an ex-parrot sculpture when it seemed to vanish but fear not: the dead parrot is safe and well (or as well as a dead parrot can be).

The piece by John Reardon, titled ‘Monument to a Dead Parrot’, has been moved to a safe place and a marquee will temporarily take its place. The hotel is being taken over by London 2012 equestrian grooms this summer and the dead parrot will return when the hotel is handed back in September.

Thanks to Rosie from Dotmaker Tours for the photo.

Daily Photo: 8/06/2012 – Gipsy Moth IV

Gipsy Moth IV

Gipsy Moth IV has been back in London at St Katherine Docks as part of the Avenue of Sail in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee river pageant. The famous yacht was sailed around the world single handedly by Sir Francis Chichester, who received his knighthood from the Queen in the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College.

Following his death, Gipsy Moth IV was put on display in Greenwich for many years. She is now owned by the Gipsy Moth Trust and managed by the UKSA – a charity “committed to changing the lives of everyone it works with through its maritime training and experiences.”
