ARTDOG at The Duke
ARTDOG represents artists in South East London and creates quality exhibitions in accessible places like pubs and hotels. They’ve got a series of exhibitions at The Duke in Creek Road, which re-opened as a gastro pub last October.
Currently showing is Eleanor Havsteen-Franklin – a Danish born artist who finished her MA in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts. Eleanor’s pieces will be on show until the end of January.
From February 1st to March 29th, pieces by Timothy Sutton will be shown. Tim specialises in contemporary portraits and will there in person for a private viewing on February 7th, between 3.30 and 6.30.
The Duke is at 125 Creek Road and you can find out more about the project by visiting the ARTDOG website.
Travelodge Coming To Greenwich High Road
The housing slump and economic malaise has led property developers to sell a 25 year lease in Greenwich High Road to Travelodge rather than go ahead with a planned residential development. The site had been earmarked for 14 luxury apartments by City and Surburban Homes, but with the property market firmly in the doldrums, the owners have instead opted to lease it to the budget hotel chain, Travelodge.
The forthcoming Travelodge is not the only new hotel coming to Greenwich – we reported in August that Whitbread are planning a 197 room Premier Inn.

Monopoly Competition: Regent Street
With Bond Street decided as Greenwich Market, and Oxford Street decided as Trafalgar Road, that just leaves Regent Street to decide from the green squares on the Monopoly Board.
Completed in 1825, Regent Street is one of the West End’s most famous shopping streets, and did you know that every building in Regent Street is protected as a listed building?
We’re looking now for a road in Greenwich that could take the place of Regent Street on the Greenwich Monopoly board. Let’s make this a quick one, so if you have an idea post it on the site using the comments form below.
