With Bond Street decided as Greenwich Market, and Oxford Street decided as Trafalgar Road, that just leaves Regent Street to decide from the green squares on the Monopoly Board.

Completed in 1825, Regent Street is one of the West End’s most famous shopping streets, and did you know that every building in Regent Street is protected as a listed building?

We’re looking now for a road in Greenwich that could take the place of Regent Street on the Greenwich Monopoly board. Let’s make this a quick one, so if you have an idea post it on the site using the comments form below.

In the last square, we decided that the Greenwich equivalent of Oxford Street was Trafalgar Road. Now we turn our attention to another shopping location: Bond Street.

Bond Street isn’t actually the name of a street – it’s the short hand name given to two streets: Old Bond Street and New Bond Street. These streets are home to a number of upmarket boutiques.

So, what part of Greenwich should replace Bond Street? College Approach? Nelson Road? Greenwich High Road? Greenwich Market? Or how about going ironic and choosing Greenwich Retail Park? Submit your entry below – usual rules apply – and we’ll pick a winner.

It’s been a couple days since we decided that the Greenwich equivalent of Park Lane would be Crooms Hill and now we’re going to move onto the green squares on the board, starting with Oxford Street.

Oxford St is, almost certainly, the most well known shopping destination in the UK. So we’re looking for a major shopping thoroughfare in Greenwich to become the equivalent of Oxford St in our Greenwich version of Monopoly.

Usual rules apply – one entry per person, just post your answer below in the comments. You can have the same entry as someone else that enters and everyone who enters with the street we select will receive one entry into the prize draw to win this special, custom made Monopoly set.

Last time round we decided that the Greenwich equivalent to Mayfair was Gloucester Circus.

Now we will have a think about the other dark blue square, Park Lane. The real Park Lane is a glamourous road at the western edge of Mayfair, home to grand hotels. In the game, property rents on Park Lane are just a little under Mayfair, so we are looking for another exclusive part of Greenwich for this one.

To enter the competition and stand a chance of winning the one-off custom made Greenwich Monopoly set, just post a comment below with the road in Greenwich that you think is the local alternative to Park Lane. The person or persons who post the name that we agree with will receive one entry each into the draw. If somebody posts the name that you were thinking, don’t be put off adding the same name. Also, feel free to add a reason to help us decide on the right choice!

This is the first opportunity to enter the Greenwich.co.uk Monopoly competition where you can win a custom made, Greenwich themed monopoly set. We will be asking for your suggestions to name the Greenwich equivalent of the squares of a traditional Monopoly board.

We’re going to start things off with Mayfair. Mayfair is a slightly odd inclusion on the board because whereas the other squares refer to particular streets, Mayfair is a part of Westminster that includes many streets. But the important thing to note about Mayfair for this is that it’s one of the most exclusive and affluent parts of London, so we need to find the most exclusive and affluent road in Greenwich.

To enter, all you need to do is post a comment below with your suggestion as to what road in Greenwich would be the best alternative to the Mayfair square. If you want to give a reason to explain your choice, that would be great too.

When we close comments on this “square”, we will select a road from the submitted entries and the person or persons who submitted it will be put through to the prize draw. Your entry doesn’t need to be unique – if someone else has alway entered with the same idea you had, you can add it as well.

We’ve come up with a fantastic competition to take us into 2009 which gives you the chance to win a custom made Greenwich version of the popular board game, Monopoly. Every square on the board will be replaced with a street name or location in Greenwich to create a truly special prize that you won’t find anywhere else.

This version of Monopoly doesn’t exist yet – we’re going to make it. And that’s where you come in. Over the next few weeks, we will be posting up squares from the traditional Monopoly board and asking you to come up with the best Greenwich equivalent. We will select the best equivalent from the entries, and the person or persons who suggested that equivalent will be entered into a prize draw. We will be deciding one square at a time and will update this post with links to the squares that have already been decided and the current one we are accepting entries on.

You don’t have to have a unique entry. If you agree with an entry already made, you can also post the same thing. In fact, a consensus will help make the decision!

Once we have selected Greenwich equivalents for every square on the board, we will pick a winner out of the hat and they will receive the custom made Monopoly set. The Monopoly will be made in the official UK factory for Monopoly and comes in a very special presentation tin.

We will get the ball (or dice?) rolling this Monday when we ask you to think of the Greenwich equivalent of Mayfair. Entrants are restricted to one entry for each “square”.
