Daily Photo: 24/08/2010 – The dome from the beach
Graham Miles kindly allowed me to use this picture that he took today from the Greenwich foreshore. He tells me that he took advantage of the low tide and sunshine, but paid the price in his pursuit of this great photo by ruining his trainers !
Daily Photo: 23/08/2010 – Robin in Greenwich Park
I saw this robin yesterday hiding in trees in Greenwich Park by the path next to Crooms Hill.
Daily Photo: 18/08/2010 – M/S Amadea
Following on from those great photos from Saturday’s Greenwich Drag Race, Warren King has kindly contributed another photo: this time it’s of the M/S Amadea cruise ship, also taken on Saturday night, with Canary Wharf in the distance.
Daily Photo: 16/08/2010 – Greenwich Drag Race
Many thanks to local photographer, Warren King, for supplying this photo from Saturday night’s Greenwich Drag Race. The annual event is organised by the Rose and Crown pub, with proceeds going to the Metro Centre in Norman Road.
Brian Clear has posted this great video of the Drag Race up on YouTube:
Daily Photo: 11/08/10 – Clocktower Market
Daily Photo: 10/08/2010 – Trolleys
Many thanks to Diana Gardiner who emailed me photo of a rather sad collection of shopping trolleys on the foreshore as spotted from the Thames Path. That ties in quite nicely with news that the Thames Discovery Programme will soon be back in Greenwich – click here to find out more.
Daily Photo: 05/08/2010 – National Maritime Museum
As the title says, a photo of the National Maritime Museum. With some people walking towards it. Not much more to say about it than that, is there?
If you have taken a more interesting or noteworthy photo in Greenwich recently and wish to share it via the Daily Photo section, do please email it to rob@greenwich.co.uk
Daily Photo: 02/08/2010 – Ruby Tiger
Many thanks to Greenwich.co.uk commenter, Indigo, for this picture of a Ruby Tiger moth on a wall in Fairthorn Road. It was only a week or so that moth-watching Indigo also spotted a Jersey Tiger.
Daily Photo: 27/07/2010 – Where in Greenwich is this? *Competition*
We’ve had some fun “Where in Greenwich is this?” type picture posts before but if you can identify the spot at which the picture above was taken, there’s more than kudos up for grabs. Mike Catterall from Mike Catterall Floral Designs in Trafalgar Road has generously put up a hand tied bouquet to the value of £30 as a prize. It can be picked up from the shop or delivered to any address in the UK.
So, to win the bouquet, all you need to do is work out where I took the picture above in Greenwich SE10, and post your answer as a comment on this post. The winner will be the first person to post the right answer here as a comment. If nobody has got it right by the end of the afternoon, I will add some “hot and cold” clues to the answers suggested.
UPDATE: Well done to Graham for getting it right in the comments below – the answer was the auction house in Old Woolwich Road, near to the Power Station opposite Stone Interiors. Here’s the bigger picture…
